High Prairie Aboriginal Interagency Committee

High Prairie Aboriginal Circle of Services

Background

The High Prairie Aboriginal Interagency (HPAIC) is an informal information sharing network that is hosted by Community Social Services (CSS), Northwest Alberta since 2007.  There are two primary elements to the interagency, the monthly meeting and the email network platform (NWAboriginalServices@gov.ab.ca ).  Members are invited to attend meetings when they are available, as well as sign up to receive email correspondence that helps share program, event and referral information.  We work to keep the information relevant to the catchment areas, and are able to share information with other AICs, with email networks in Grande Prairie, High Level, High Prairie and Peace River.

Meetings

HPAIC meets once per month, from September through June on the second Tuesday and are open for anyone to take part; membership is inclusive, flexible and diverse.  It is not required that everyone attends every meeting.  Below is a listing of the meetings that will be held during the upcoming year.  All meetings are in hybrid , in-person location to be determined. Meetings are from 10:00 am -12:00 pm.

Format

The High Prairie Aboriginal Interagency Committee (HPAIC) fosters a collaborative and holistic approach through solutions-based dialogue that embraces culture and history. Our goal is to enhance individual and community efforts to achieve the best possible outcomes for Aboriginal children, families, and communities. HPAIC provides an informal platform for agency representatives and community members to network, share ideas, exchange resources, and discuss programming information. Additionally, we organize significant cultural events, including an annual Traditional Pow Wow and Round Dance in High Prairie, which bring the community together to celebrate and honor Indigenous traditions. Subcommittees may also be formed as needed to address specific initiatives. Attendance at HPAIC meetings is open to everyone, and regular participation is encouraged but not required, ensuring flexibility for all members. Please keep in mind the round table portion of our meetings will not be recorded.

If you have anything that you would like added to the meeting’s agenda, or if you would like to do a short presentation about your programs and services at a meeting, please contact please contact Wendy Goulet HPAIC2020@outlook.com
