Northwest Aboriginal Interagency Committees
The Northwest Aboriginal Interagency Committee’s (AIC) are informal information sharing networks that are hosted by Community Social Services (CSS), Northwest Alberta, since 2007.
There are two primary elements to the interagency, the monthly meeting and the email network platform ([email protected] ). Members are invited to attend meetings when they are available, as well as sign up to receive email correspondence that helps share program, event and referral information. We work to keep the information relevant to the catchment areas, and are able to share information with other AICs, with email networks in Grande Prairie, High Level, High Prairie and Peace River.

To promote unity, respect, tradition, values and culture of the Aboriginal people for the well being of our communities.
Mission
Work together to promote awareness in the community, identify issues, lobby for resolution and provide agencies and government bodies with feedback on the Aboriginal perspective(s).
Values & Beliefs
- Involve all people race, color, creed – who come together in a safe and caring environment.
- Respect the equality and dignity of individuals and agencies. Practice respect, confidentially and integrity.
- Act with honesty, kindness, compassion and discretion.
- Work together in partnership with other agencies and communities to promote the traditions, values and culture of Aboriginal people.
- Honour the seven teachings: courage, honesty, humility, love, respect, strength, wisdom.
Goals
Community: To focus on all children, youth, adults, and elders in our community.
Resources: Identify collective resources and integrate them, to achieve our vision.
Bridging Gaps: To increase awareness of Aboriginal traditions, values, and culture within our community.
Advocacy: To advocate for individuals, organizations and groups requiring supports.
Health & Wellness: To promote an environment where all people can build holistic individual, family and community wellness through feelings, body, mind and spirit.
Education for All: To provide information and resources that enable individuals to make healthy decisions for themselves, their families and their community.
Justice: To recognize and promote Aboriginal participation in establishing resolutions of judicial issues.
Membership
AICs are open for anyone to take part; membership is inclusive, flexible and diverse. Examples of who you will find at AICs include Municipalities, Tribal/Regional Councils, Government of Alberta services, School Divisions, Friendship Centres, Museums/Archives, RCMP, Victim’s Services, First Nation Health Consortium, Children Services Advocate, Library Systems, various non-profit agencies, and others.

2nd Tuesday of the month at 10:00 am
Peace River Aboriginal Interagency Committee (PRAIC)
3rd Tuesday of the month at 9:30 am
Grande Prairie Aboriginal Circle of Services (GPACOS)
4th Tuesday of the month at 10:00 am
